Since emerging in the 1990s as a figure to be reckoned with in the jazz world, Warfield has performed and recorded with greats such as Christian McBride, Dizzy Gillespie, Nicholas Payton, and Donald Byrd. Since 2006, he has been a member of the Terell Stafford Quintet. Ben Ratliff of the New York Times says Warfield has “an earthy, smoky tone and postbop learning in excellent proportions…” A native of Pennsylvania, Warfield currently serves in the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz and as "artist-in-residence" at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa. He also teaches in Temple University’s Music Department, in Philadelphia.
