About this image

Joe Lovano, tenor sax, at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2005. Joe Lovano will return to Copenhagen Jazz Festival in 2013, this time at Valby Summer Jazz where he will perform with the Danish saxophonist Benjamin Koppel. The concert will be the world's first meeting between the two first mezzosoprano saxophones in the world. The mezzosopranosaxophone was developed by Benjamin Koppel and built by instrument maker Peter Jessen in Copenhagen, Denmark. When Joe Lovano heard Benjamin Koppel played on this new member of the saxophone family, he ordered a mezzosopranosaxophone at Peter Jessen workshop in Copenhagen.
