About this image

Beloved Montreal pianist Oliver Jones is considered by many Canadians to be the torch bearer of Oscar Peterson's piano sound. Although Jones may not match Peterson's sheer velocity, his aesthetic is deeply rooted in the same musical values, and Jones is a joy to listen to. Deeply swinging, gospel tinged music that originated in the same Montreal incubator - the St. Henri home of Daisy Peterson Sweeney, Oscar's sister and teacher.
