Grammy-nominated singer Jane Monheit performed with her band at Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts on July 15, as part of the Center's Festival Concerts series. The singer is an alumna of Usdan Center, the renowned summer arts camp which has spawned many famous performers, and has a multi-level Department of Jazz, created in 1986 by Dr. Billy Tayor.
I love jazz because it swings.
I was first exposed to jazz in Houston.
I met Joe LoCascio and Bob Henschen.
The best show I ever attended was Pat Martino.
The first jazz record I bought was Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
My advice to new listeners is to relax on 2 and 4 beats.
