The JOHN MONTESANTE DECTET is a quality 10 piece Jazz band, that boasts six horns, a matchless rhythm section and additional guest Vocalist – performing the coolest jazz arrangements in town. The Dectet had its genesis in Montesante’s stylish, versatile horn-led quintet,The JMQ which he formed in 1990 and that band has performed regularly since – at venues, events and festivals. In 2013, Montesante added four horns and a guitarist to the core JMQ lineup, to breathe life to his new dedicated arrangements. This Jazz Dectet performs tunes for those who savour undiluted virtuosity, outstanding soloists and big horn arrangements of Blue Note standards and bebop. If you enjoy iconic tunes like Arabia, Close Your Eyes, Round Midnight, Falling In Love With Love, Boplicity, Dearly Beloved, Nica's Dream and many others, then this is the show to blow you away. And rising star Olivia Chindamo, who has already made her mark on the Australian Jazz scene, sings with the band from time to time.
