About this image

I find it intriguing that the visual arts and music share a common vocabulary: movement, pattern, perspective, flow, layering.  Just as a jazz musician takes off on an improvisational riff, I express myself with color, lines and shapes, creating a fusion of music and art on my canvas. Overall, I am seeking to express the moment when sound becomes visual. This oscillation between hearing music and seeing it visually acts as a catalyst for continuous motion, and it defines, explores and expands my canvas.  I use music to inspire and to be free, to improvise and be open — always looking for better ways to communicate my voice, and how to visually interpret sound and music. This process involves self-discovery, critical and creative thinking, and a deep discipline to change.  The excitement and unexpected risks are what attract me to avant-garde approaches to art, encouraging me to explore experimental techniques and interpret material in ever-changing ways. The focus of my art shows this exploring relationship between light and color, continually challenging the interplay of hue, value and intensity.
