The 37th annual North Carolina Jazz Festival held each year in Wilmington, NC. Dr. Harry VanVelsor's love of Traditional and Dixieland jazz was the impetus for this festival. In 2006, upon the retirement of Dr. VanVelsor, the festival was taken over Sandy Evans who was the former president of the Cape Fear Jazz Society. Still in charge today Sandy has widened the scope of the festival to include more genres of jazz but trad is still the driving force.
