About this image

Gilberto Gil’s illustrious career spans four decades with more than 30 albums released, multiple Grammy Awards, six gold records, four platinum singles, and more than five million albums sold. As a singer, guitarist, composer, and diplomat, Gil plays a key role in the modernization of Brazilian popular music and culture throughout the world. And he takes that role very seriously: from 2003 to 2008 he served as his country’s Minister of Culture. The evening’s program will focus on the jazzy, urbane bossa nova of cosmopolitan Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, paying tribute to seminal recording artist and father of the form, João Gilberto.

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
