About this image

This is one of my paintings for my "Outsider Bass" CD. Like Sun Ra did many years ago, I decided to short circuit the expenses of a multi-colored CD cover by painting each cover separately. Yes, it takes time, but sales have always been kind of slow with this one, you know what I mean? :) There's more to this story: I love Outsider Art, in other words Visionary creations by non-academical trained folks, often kind of nutty. I think I am a soft-core outsider artist and maybe I am. There are secrets hidden in the cover. The original picture was taken when I played for a black and white paintings by Jackson Pollock exhibit at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art. But I'm wanna-be Outsider, you dig? So I usually paint over the Pollock because it needs to be rendered into obsolesce by the Outsider thing. I didn't do to well doing that on this cover because you still can see Pollock's weird swirls. I like my creamy white swirls better, they're like whipped cream on vanilla ice cream. His look like spilled used car motor oil--maybe they were, huh? I'll be reissuing this CD soon as a digital click and listen thing. But I haven't yet figured out how to paint each of your Iphone screens yet.
